WHAT IS AMERICORPS?
AmeriCorps has been referred to as the "Domestic Peace Corps".
Thousands of Americans, both young and young in spirit, come together to
"get things done" by serving the needs of our citizens and communities
in a local capacity. AmeriCorps members give a year to serve a community
need and have the adventure of a lifetime! In exchange for service,
members receive an ed award to help finance higher education costs, or
repayment for outstanding student loans. AmeriCorps members receive a
$11,100.00 yearly living allowance that is paid out on a bi-weekly
basis. Qualifying members may also receive childcare and healthcare
benefits. AmeriCorps members may work another part-time job, or go to
school part-time. The AmeriCorps programs seeks to harness the energy
and idealism of Americans who are dedicated to making their communities
- and this country - a better place to live for all of us.

senior program in
AmeriCorps.
